Project comments help you collect feedback while reviewing your draft, then turn that feedback into AI updates when you are ready. Instead of keeping a separate notes list, you can leave comments inside the project and come back to them as a build checklist.
What project comments do
Project comments give your app project a dedicated Comments area. From there, you can:
- Leave a general note about the project
- Add a comment to a specific part of the draft preview
- Review open and resolved comments
- Sort comments by newest or oldest
- Mark comments resolved, reopen them, or delete them
- Ask the AI to build from a comment
Comments are for your Caffeine project workflow and are visible only to the project owner. They are not public comments inside your live app, and your app users do not see them.
Project comments are for app projects while you are building and reviewing. They do not appear in the main chat area before you open or create an app project.
Adding a comment from the preview
When your draft preview is ready, use Add comments to enter comment mode. Click the part of the preview you want to comment on, then write the note in the floating comment box. If a preview snapshot can be captured, Caffeine keeps it with the comment so you can recognize the feedback later.
This is useful when the feedback is about something visual or specific, such as:
- "Make this button easier to notice"
- "This card spacing feels too tight"
- "Change this heading to sound warmer"
- "This part should be lower on mobile"
The comment stays connected to that area of the draft preview, so the AI has more context later if you decide to build from it.
If Caffeine cannot capture the snapshot, you can still post the comment. The text of the comment is saved, but the card may not include an image.
Adding a general project comment
You can also leave a comment without selecting anything in the preview. Open the Comments area and type into Leave a comment.
General comments are useful for broader notes, such as:
- "Before launch, review the checkout flow"
- "Add more empty states"
- "Make the design feel more premium"
- "Check this again after the next build"
Use general comments when the note applies to the whole app or you do not need to point to a specific element.
Managing comments
The Comments area shows your project comments as cards. Each card includes the comment text, who created it, when it was created, and, when available, a preview snapshot or version label.
You can filter the list to see Open or Resolved comments. Open comments are still active. Resolved comments are kept for reference and can be reopened if needed.
You can also sort comments by latest or oldest, mark individual comments resolved, delete comments, or select multiple comments for bulk actions.
Comment actions may be temporarily unavailable while Caffeine is already working on another comment or while the chat is busy. Wait for the current work to finish, then try again.
Turning a comment into an AI update
For an open comment, click Build to send that comment to the AI. Caffeine uses the comment text, and any available preview context, as the instruction for the next update.
After the build starts, you are taken back to the chat so you can follow the AI's progress. Review the updated draft before going live, just as you would after any other change.
Use Build for comments that describe a concrete change you want Caffeine to make. If the comment is only a reminder, a discussion note, or something you want to handle later, keep it open or mark it resolved manually.
If a comment was tied to a preview selection or snapshot, Caffeine includes that context with the build request when possible. This helps the AI understand what part of the draft you meant.
When project comments are most useful
Project comments are best for review and iteration:
- Collecting a list of polish items before a final build
- Marking visual tweaks while looking at the draft
- Separating feedback collection from the moment you ask the AI to build
- Keeping QA notes inside the project instead of in a separate document
- Reviewing several comments, then choosing which ones should become AI changes
For large feature requests or big product direction changes, the normal chat is usually better. Project comments work best when each comment is a focused note that can become a small, clear update.
Frequently asked questions
Who can see project comments?
Only the project owner can see project comments. They are part of your Caffeine builder workspace, do not appear in the live app, and are not a commenting system for your app's end users.
Do comments change my app automatically?
No. A comment is only a note until you ask Caffeine to build from it. Click Build on a comment when you want the AI to turn that note into an update.
Can I comment on the live version of my app?
Project comments are designed for reviewing the draft preview while building. Use them before publishing changes live.
What happens after I click Build on a comment?
Caffeine sends the comment to the AI as a build request and takes you back to the chat. The update goes to your draft first. Review the result before publishing it to your live app.
Can I keep comments after they are resolved?
Yes. Resolved comments stay available in the resolved filter, so you can review or reopen them later.
Can I delete comments?
Yes. You can delete individual comments or select multiple comments and delete them together. Deletion removes the comment from the project.
