Caffeine uses Internet Identity for authentication — a decentralized, passwordless system that keeps your account secure without a password. You can sign in using your Google account, your Microsoft account, or a passkey stored directly on your device.
Sign-in options
On the sign-in screen you will see two buttons: Continue with Google and Continue with Microsoft. Either one lets you sign in with your existing account in a single click — Caffeine uses Internet Identity under the hood to verify your identity without storing your password.
If you prefer not to use Google or Microsoft, click See all options to access Internet Identity (a passkey stored directly on your device) or Sign in with SSO (for team workspaces).
How Internet Identity works
When you sign in with a passkey for the first time on a device, Internet Identity creates a cryptographic key tied to that specific device and browser. That key is your identity on that device. No email address, no password, nothing to remember — the device itself is the credential.
This also means that each device and browser creates a separate identity by default. If you log in on your laptop and then on your phone without linking them first, you will see two completely separate Caffeine accounts with different projects.
Linking your devices
To use the same passkey-based account across multiple devices, you need to link them through Internet Identity before you need to. You cannot link a new device after losing access to the original one without a recovery method in place.
To manage your Internet Identity and link devices, go to id.ai. From there you can:
- Add additional devices to your identity
- Set up a recovery passkey or seed phrase
- View and manage all devices linked to your account
Set up at least one recovery method as soon as you start using Caffeine. This is the only way to regain access if your primary device is lost or unavailable.
My projects are missing after logging in
If you log in and see no projects, you are most likely signed in with a different identity than usual. This happens when:
- You are using a different device or browser than normal
- Your browser was updated or reset and the passkey was removed
- You are in a private/incognito window, which does not have access to saved passkeys
Try logging out and logging back in from the device you normally use. If your projects appear there, link your devices at id.ai so you can access them from anywhere.
Two accounts cannot be merged
If you have been using two separate identities — for example, one on your laptop and one on your phone — those are two distinct accounts. It is not possible to merge them into one, or to transfer projects, credits, or subscription status from one account to the other.
The only path forward is to pick one account as your primary and link your devices to it going forward at id.ai. Any credits or projects on the other account cannot be moved.
Lost access completely
If you have lost access to your primary device and have no recovery method set up, recovery options are very limited. Contact support — the team will assess what is possible, but there is no guaranteed path to account recovery without a linked device or recovery phrase.
This is why setting up recovery at id.ai before you need it is important.
Signing in with SSO
If your organization uses a team workspace with single sign-on configured, you can sign in to Caffeine using your company identity provider. On the sign-in page, choose Sign in with SSO and enter your organization's email domain. Caffeine will redirect you to your identity provider to authenticate.
SSO is set up by your workspace admin. If you are an admin and want to configure SSO for your team, see Setting Up Single Sign-On for Your Team Workspace.
Managing email preferences
Caffeine sends occasional emails to let you know when a build is ready or remind you to check on a project you started. These are marketing emails, not account or security messages, and you can stop them at any time.
Every marketing email includes an Unsubscribe link in the footer. Clicking it takes you to Settings → Email preferences, where you can opt out of that email type. You can also go directly to Email preferences from your account settings at any time without waiting for an email.
Once you opt out, that reminder type is no longer sent to you. Transactional emails — such as email verification, payment receipts, and domain renewal alerts — are not affected by your email preferences and cannot be turned off.
Signed in but redirected to an interstitial page
If you sign in on caffeine.ai and are immediately shown a page that says your account is associated with a different organization — with Sign in again and Use another account buttons — your Caffeine account belongs to a separate platform (such as Pakistan Digital Authority) that has its own dedicated site.
This happens because your account was created on a partner platform, and caffeine.ai is not the right home for it. The global Caffeine app is not available to accounts on those platforms.
You have two options:
-
Sign in again — takes you to your platform's own sign-in page (for example,
caffeineai.pk), where you can access your account normally. -
Use another account — signs you out of
caffeine.aiand brings you to the Caffeine sign-in screen so you can sign in with a different account that belongs tocaffeine.ai.
Marketing pages on caffeine.ai (such as pricing and about) remain accessible to you even if your account is on a partner platform.
Frequently asked questions
Can I sign in with Google or Microsoft?
Yes. On the sign-in screen, choose Continue with Google or Continue with Microsoft to sign in with your existing account. Both options use Internet Identity under the hood, so your Caffeine account is tied to your Internet Identity rather than directly to your Google or Microsoft account.
Why is there no password reset option?
Caffeine uses Internet Identity, which does not use passwords. There is no password to reset. Your login credential is the passkey stored on your device, or your Google or Microsoft account if you chose that sign-in method. To access your account from a new device using a passkey, you need either a linked device or a recovery method set up in advance at id.ai.
Can I use the same account on multiple devices?
Yes, but the method depends on how you signed in. If you signed in with Google or Microsoft, you can sign in on any device using the same account — your Caffeine identity follows your Google or Microsoft login. If you signed in using a passkey, you need to link your devices first. Log in on your primary device, go to id.ai, and add your other devices.
I see a different account when I log in on my phone. What happened?
If you signed in with a passkey, your phone may have created a new identity when you first logged in. Your original account and projects are still on the other device. Link the two identities at id.ai while you still have access to both, or log in from your original device. If you signed in with Google or Microsoft, make sure you are using the same Google or Microsoft account on both devices.
Can I merge two accounts or transfer credits between them?
No. Two separate accounts cannot be merged, and credits cannot be transferred from one account to another. If you have ended up with two accounts, pick one as your primary and use it going forward. Anything on the other account — credits, projects, subscription — stays there.
What is a recovery phrase and do I need one?
A recovery phrase is a backup for your Internet Identity that lets you regain access from any device, even if you lose your original one. It applies if you signed in using a passkey. It is strongly recommended. Set one up at id.ai under your identity settings.
Why am I seeing a page that says my account is associated with another organization?
Your Caffeine account was created on a partner platform (for example, Pakistan Digital Authority) that has its own dedicated site separate from caffeine.ai. When you sign in on caffeine.ai, you are redirected to this interstitial because the global Caffeine app is not available to accounts on those platforms. Click Sign in again to go to your platform's sign-in page, or Use another account to sign in with a caffeine.ai account instead.
