Caffeine subscriptions are billed through Stripe. You are charged at the start of each billing period — monthly or annually depending on your billing choice. Annual billing saves approximately 20% compared to monthly.
To manage your subscription and payment details: Profile avatar → Membership → manage via the Stripe Customer Portal.
Payment methods
Caffeine accepts all major credit and debit cards through Stripe. The currency is USD. Payment is processed automatically at the start of each billing period.
To update your payment method: go to the Stripe Customer Portal from your Membership settings.
Your default payment method is also used for one-time credit purchases and auto top-up charges.
Checkout
When you subscribe to a plan or purchase credits, the upgrade dialog opens inside Caffeine. It shows an offer screen with plans relevant to what you are trying to unlock — for example, if you hit a paywall while going live or accessing analytics, the plans shown are those that include that feature. Once you select a plan, payment completes in an embedded Stripe checkout inside the same dialog, so you do not leave the page. A separate Stripe-hosted tab may still open when your card requires an additional verification step. After a successful payment, Caffeine automatically resumes the action that prompted the upgrade — for example, your go-live or App Market publish will continue without you needing to start it again. Managing an existing subscription or payment method also opens the Stripe Customer Portal.
Annual billing and checkout
When you select annual billing, the plan card shows the monthly equivalent price prominently, with the total annual charge displayed underneath — for example, "$20 per month" with "$240 billed annually" below it. A savings badge shows how much you save compared to the monthly rate. Switching to the monthly billing tab removes the annual details. Before payment, the checkout dialog confirms the plan, billing period, and exact amount due today.
Business billing and tax IDs
If you are subscribing or purchasing credits on behalf of a business, you can provide your business name, billing address, and tax ID (such as a VAT number or EIN) at checkout. Caffeine collects this information automatically during checkout — you do not need to contact support to add it.
Providing a valid tax ID may affect whether tax is applied to your invoice, depending on your country and tax registration status. Stripe handles the validation and display of your tax ID on receipts.
Incorrect charges
If you believe a charge is incorrect, go to Profile avatar → Get help and include your account email, charge date, and relevant details.
Payment failures
If a payment fails, your subscription credits expire immediately and your account reverts to the Free plan. Stripe retries the payment automatically. Caffeine also sends you an email to let you know the payment failed and prompt you to update your payment method.
To reactivate, update your payment method in the Stripe Customer Portal and retry payment. Credits are restored only after Stripe successfully collects payment. If your credits have not appeared after a successful payment, contact support.
If a payment remains unpaid, Caffeine sends follow-up reminder emails until the balance is settled or the subscription is fully cancelled.
Subscription ending emails
If your subscription is set to cancel at the end of the current billing period, Caffeine sends you a heads-up email 7 days before and again 1 day before the cancellation takes effect. These emails remind you that your subscription is about to end and give you a chance to keep it active before losing access to paid features.
Billing cycles
You are charged on the same day each month (or annually, if on annual billing). The exact date is shown in the Stripe Customer Portal.
When you upgrade mid-cycle, you are charged a prorated amount for the remainder of the current period and your new plan takes effect immediately. When you downgrade, the change is scheduled for your next renewal date.
Upgrades blocked by a pending payment
Some payment methods — such as ACH bank transfers — take a few days to clear. If you try to upgrade your plan while a payment is still clearing, the upgrade will be temporarily blocked. Instead of showing a generic error, Caffeine sends you to a Stripe-hosted invoice page where you can check the status of the pending payment. Once the payment clears, you can return to Caffeine and complete your upgrade normally.
Frequently asked questions
What happens after I pay — do I need to restart what I was doing?
No. After a successful payment, Caffeine automatically resumes the action that triggered the upgrade. If you were trying to go live, your go-live continues. If you were publishing to the App Market, that publish picks up where it left off. You do not need to navigate back or start the action again.
Do you offer monthly and annual billing?
Yes. You can choose either when subscribing. Annual billing saves approximately 20%. You can switch between billing periods at any time — the change takes effect immediately and is prorated. Your billing cycle resets from the date of the switch.
What will I see at checkout when choosing annual billing?
The plan card shows the monthly equivalent price prominently, with the total annual charge and a savings badge displayed underneath. For example, if the annual plan works out to $20 per month, you will see "$20 per month" as the headline and "$240 billed annually" below it, along with a badge showing how much you save versus monthly. The checkout dialog confirms the plan name, annual billing period, and exact amount due today before your card is charged.
What currencies do you support?
USD. Stripe handles currency conversion if your card is issued in another currency — your bank or card issuer may apply a conversion fee.
When am I charged?
At the start of each billing period. For monthly plans, on the same date each month. For annual plans, once per year on your renewal date.
Where can I manage my subscription?
Through the Stripe Customer Portal. Access it from Profile avatar → Membership.
How do I update my payment method?
Go to Profile avatar → Membership → open the Stripe Customer Portal → update your card details there.
Do you offer a grace period for failed payments?
No. Subscription credits expire immediately when a payment fails and your account reverts to the Free plan. Stripe retries the payment automatically — once a retry succeeds, your subscription and credits are restored. Caffeine also sends you a payment-failed email and follow-up reminders if the balance remains unpaid.
Will I be warned before my subscription cancels?
Yes. If your subscription is scheduled to cancel at the end of your billing period, Caffeine emails you 7 days before and again 1 day before the cancellation takes effect — so you have time to change your mind and keep your subscription active.
I updated my card but my credits haven't appeared yet.
There may be a short processing delay. Wait a few minutes and refresh. If credits still have not appeared, contact support via Profile avatar → Get help.
I think I was charged incorrectly.
Contact support via Profile avatar → Get help. Include your account email and the charge amount and date.
Can I subscribe as a business and include my tax ID?
Yes. When you check out to subscribe or purchase credits, you will be prompted to enter your billing address and, optionally, a tax ID (such as a VAT number or EIN). This information is collected automatically — no extra steps are needed. Your tax ID will appear on invoices and receipts issued by Stripe.
